There is a campground at the north end of Blue Lake Reservoir which is just a few miles to the east of Vida and Finn Rock. If you look at Google Maps or such you can find the campsite on the eastern shore. Follow the Blue Lake Reservoir Road back to the highway and then you can see where to turn.

Craig, that sounds good. I've got stories and I would love to do a run with you.

I'm looking forward to hearing your stories from the grand canyon run, and also seeing everyone again. Hope to meet up early Friday and do some prerunning and looking for Fish.

Peter I see you figured out how to add a picture. Since I had already typed out a response I figured I would pass it along. I can always copy it from your post for someone else later.

To post the picture I first located the file so I could find it, in my case I saved it to the desktop. Then I clicked on the small icon above the box where I am currently typing. It is just to the right of the small icon that says "LINK". That will open a box that reads: "ADD IMAGE". You can choose from FROM MY COMPUTER or FROM A URL. In my case I chose FROM MY COMPUTER and clicked on the Browse button and went to the file Desktop where I then clicked on the appropriate picture file that I wanted to post. A double click started the process of copying the picture so it could be posted on the website server.

Here's a copy of that box. When this picture will be posted it will be full sized and there will be no clear margin around it because I didn't select any "padding." I could have chosen to post the picture to the left right or centered on the page. I could also make the picture larger or smaller based on the width in pixels that I selected. I kept it as I found it at 721.

Click okay and the picture will be copied to the post you are working on. Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

After I ran the Grand Canyon last year I had the pleasure of visiting Brad at his home, it was quite a pleasure to meet him and look around the workshop where he does his magic. Here's a link to his website: http://www.fretwater.com

In the summer of 1967 my dad, Ron Hayes, purchased a 14' McKenzie drift boat made by Keith Steele. On the drive south back to Los Angeles dad hit the bow of the boat on a low beam at a gas station, which severely damaged the hull. He spent the next three and a half years fixing the damage and then fitting the hull out with water-tight compartments such that he could run with Martin Litton down the Grand Canyon. His dory, The Betty Boop, became famous when it was the only one not to flip on "Dog Day Afternoon" when Martin flipped three of his dory boats in Crystal Rapid. The boat changed hands and eventually was left to die on a trailer in New Mexico where it sat in the elements for 25 years. Famed wooden boat craftsman Brad Dimock received the beat up old boat and spent three months completely rebuilding it. He sold it to a Grand Canyon guide who worked for the company that purchased the permit from my dad's river outfit, "Wilderness World". Anyway, I hope word gets out to the new owner of the Betty Boop, because she really is a beauty, and she has a lot of history in her wood.  PS How do you add images to this site?
