It seems like it should work just fine. Maybe I'll do that on my boat too. I don't know how to make it a push button option though unless you connected some sort of a release that would allow a bottom piece to move back and forth and then some sort of detent and spring would connect and stop it in place. It is fun to think about all the little tricks you could do. Most of which aren't really needed but fun to consider and plan out.
Yes...my boat has the 48 inch bottom. I use a 6hp long shaft motor. It moves the boat along fine for my needs. It will not get on plane though. Just enough to go upriver in a slow moving river....or across a big lake. The transom was not modified....I do take the motor off while trailering the boat....too much stress in my opinion.....especially on bumpy roads.

How does it go under power?

Hola JB, I live in Buenos Aires and if you come to Argentina next jan, we can fish some rivers together. Junin is beatifull and the rivers around are amazing.
