Semi-retired. Love to fly fish and love wooden driftboats. Now that I have a little more time, I'm looking forward to diving into the restoration of my 16 footer.
Boats I own:
I own two Ray's River Dories- A 14ft kit boat, and a 16ft boat built by Ray in 1985.
Hello Hal, you don't have to float to bring your boat. The majority of the boats are simply displayed on the lawn. Check the photos on my page from the past events. We can see first hand your boats issues and you can get options for repair than Carter's Liver Little Liver Pills. Well maybe not that many but you will find almost all the experienced Wooden Drift Boat builders and you can get some help.
If you want to get some ideas on your own before you come down, use the search feature and look for chine log repairs. If you haven't yet seen Roger Fletcher's book Drift Boats and River Dories (River's Touch is the name of his web site) it very well explains the construction of these boats. Roger will be at the show too.
Hal,
I would be interested in talking to you about your boat, please would you contact me when you get back into town either through this forum or via email ,my address is :
jhammertime7@aol.com
Thank you
Jean Hammer.
Hal - My apologies--I haven't been on this site for a while. My dad and I have decided to build a new boat this winter, so the prospect of a restoration has faded for me. Best of luck finding a good home for that beauty - as I'm sure you will.
