The only thing that I would have done to the trailer is put a step platform behind the fender. As for the size of the wheels they are 13" ones and you can buy the whole tire and rim at the local sporting goods store for about $79. I need to make a spare tire stand and get the spare as I would not want to get a flat one the way up the Kalama River which is only about 6 or 7 miles from my house. I just burnt the old drift boat that was on the trailer today as it was really rotted out, I was hoping to get a couple of trips down the river before I did what I did today. This just means that I have to start on the new 16 footer sooner then I planned. Dang the bad luck LOL
Believe it or not I have a 1972 Don Hill 16 FT. High Side Guide model boat that I am going to put together. I bought it from my daughter-in-law's Uncle who bought it in 1972 and never assembled it. The only thing I have had to buy is the assembly manual and screws, nut, bolts, and a piece of 1\4" plywood for the flyline deck. I got the boat kit, Smoker White water oars, Bo's anchor release, UHMW kit all for $500. What a find!
Jay I just thought of something that I did to my drift boat. Once I had the boat on the trailer I welded weld-on eye bolts to the trailer frame directly below the oar locks. Then when you strap your boat down for the trip there or home you are going thru the oar locks and not over the hand rails where the straps will wear down the finish. Just remembered this.
