Hi Chris, yes I use a 1/4 20 tap and all thread with some JB Weld on the all thread before I seat it. Have never had a problem with it.

I see you used a dierks double bow eye. I have 2 I bought for my boat. How did you attach it.. Tap and Thread holes, weld a rod in and thread? Fwiw when I talked to the guys at hyde about it, they seemed convinced that threading a hole in the eye wouldent work cause the aluminum is too soft, I kind of doubt this but they were ads it about welding the eye to a plate, then drilling holes in it. Love to know what u figured out.
