Eastern Wooden Boat People Gathering / Float? Anybody Interested?

In a few different threads some of the Pennsylvania folks had talked about having some sort of Eastern gathering.  Water such as the delaware, susquehanna, etc.. came up.  I know there are a few forum followers from PA.  I think Dave Z and Steve L mentioned they might be interested.  Thinking springtime 2014.  Weekend where everyone drags out their wooden boats and does some fishing.  Maybe a cookout or something?  Any thoughts?  Anybody interested?  You don't see too many wooden boats on this side of the mississippi - would be cool to meet a few others.  Chime in if you would be interested, maybe we can get something on the calendar.

Im In wherever it is

I am sending out a few feelers for different hosts on the Delaware. Would a set weekend in the spring/early summer work where everyone just shows up, brings their boat. Maybe a Saturday afternoon cookout/gathering/meet and greet to show off the boats. That way everybody could get a morning and evening float in. We could have a speaker or something similar in the afternoon Saturday. I think guide Bruce Miller is credited as being one of the first to float the Delaware in a drift boat. Maybe we could get him to share some early stories or Paul Weamer the author of the book on fishing the Delaware. Just throwing some ideas out there.

let me know how to help Ron.

Paul is in your neck of the woods at TFO SC.

Will do.  Yep, I know Paul.  Haven't seen him in the shop for awhile but he keeps pretty busy.  I will send you a PM through your email.

I'll be in if I can - and if the crappy doorskin plywood driftboat still floats by then (it's been kicked out of the garage for the winter)

+1 for Michigan! Closer for me than PA. However, if it's PA, I suggest Middle Yough or Pine Creek around Waterville. Lycoming County.

Oh yeah!
I would travel to meet people see wood boats and fish.
I live in Cleveland but will drive to wherever.
I am just finishing my boat now but will be taking it to fish the allegheny and clarion often.

Will be watching to see what the plan is.

A few options if we want to explore the Delaware.  Not sure who still might be interested but I was thinking sometime the second half of June.  Two possible places that could/might host.  Check them out.  If people are still interested I will pursue setting something up.

I'm in. If no takers i will still do a spring trip with you.

Sounds good Steve.  Let's keep in touch.  We have lots of options.  I still hope to come by sometime and see your boat when I am visiting my folks.  I have been adding a few things to my boat over the winter.  I put in a removable cross piece with leg braces for the front and added in the shelves along the sides.  Small things I didn't initially do because I was anxious to get in the water!

I recently moved up to CT from PA, but still get back as most of the fam. is back that way. I'd love to fish the Del. or anything else down that way. Keep me posted

I'm still figuring out spring summer plans.  There are some big trips for me in 2014, and need to make sure i can keep the homefront happy...Could still be persuaded on this trip.  I'd really like to be on the D during the drake time.  We could chat about boats all day , but the fishin is hot at dark.

dinner over in starlight, big long fish/float the following day.
