Anyone have any pictures for inspiration for me for things you have built to hold the following items in your boat:

1)  Holder for anchor while traveling on road

2)  Oar holders / stays for both traveling on road, and spare oar

3)  Rod holders

4)  Beer holders

5)  Plaques and boat names

6)  Any other interior inspiration

Pictures would be fantastic.  I have looked at just about every picture on the website at some point but could use some ideas here as I wrap up the interior fab on the boat.

1. milk crate.  carrys extra ropes, bungees, trash, etc...

2. a cut down seat back with oar diameter cut out.

3. PVC tube.  for fly rods.  keeps them from getting tangled.

4. beer holders... i personally like to keep em close.. like in my hand.  haha.

5. My latest boat is the SS Sweater Musky.  inside joke ;)

6. Now I will get serious Dan.  One of the most useful and significant changes I have made to my boats in the last few builds have been the utilization of a "rail and side pocket" system.  I stole this idea from AJ on his river pram.  the full side pocket storage for um, beer, flies, rods, tools, anything else.. and the ease in which seats can be repositioned to trim the boat is outstanding and extremely versatile.

I dont have a picture right quick, but search AJs "River Pram" or Z's drifter or flyfisher skiff to see what I mean.

Good luck in your build sir.

Great topic, may have a few pictures when I get Home

Ooops- the pic didn't attach.  If while composing, you hit the little button second from the left (when you rollover it that says "image") you can then find the image on the computer and upload right into your post.

Ben - do you have the drainplug only in the stern area?  Just curious - I have two drainplugs and haven't decided if I want to do just one at the rear, or another one elsewhere?  Thoughts?

Dan, I started out with only a stern drain plug. I soon found out that not all the water will drain. I installed a second in the main rowers compartment on the right side so when I am driving home the crown of the road will force water to the right side and out of my boat. It works well.

Take a look through the pictures I have posted on my page where you will find three years worth of Wooden Boat Festival boat details. It might help you to see some additional ideas.

What you see is all I have. I always tip my boat up when not in use. Most all of the water will drain with no worries.

Ok back home, have a couple of pictures. Maybe I'll try from my phone.

added pictures in photo section

The Fortress Commando anchor comes w/ a storage bag, so that bag works well to keep loose in the dinghy.

GD,

Here's a pic of a Brass Name Plate I used on my stripper canoe, about an 1/8" thick solid brass.  It's available from Wooden Boat Store for about $ 25.  I took it to the local Mall where engraving was added.  I have the name of the canoe and "Built by______" and the year.  It cost another $ 25.  Not cheap, but looks nice though.

Hope this helps,

Dorf
