Marine Grade Plywood

Im looking for a source for Maranti Marine Grade plywood

some where in the northwest. I live in Idaho and would like to drive and

pick up a dozen sheets or so. I know someone has a source because of all

the hand built wood boats in the area. I have already built my boat, but would

like to build a few more in the near future.

Here's a source I used to obtain 14 sheets of very nice marine ply.... 3/8" x 4' x 10'.   Eagle Plywood Specialties, in Harrisburg, Oregon; Marc is the manager.  You can simply type in the words eagle plywood Harrisburg Oregon, and it'll take you right to their site.  They make quite a variety of ply....marine, mdo, etc.   I called them and talked to Marc, the manager.  I told him I was building a wooden boat and needed marine ply.  He told me they were a big production mill and probably couldn't supply my needs; but when I asked if there were any "reject" type material available, he said, 'why, we do have several items 'on the floor'."  So, that's how I came to purchase my ply....'off the floor'.  My ply was not stamped 'marine', but Marc assured me it was very good quality marine.  I used 8 sheets on my 22' simmons sea skiff, and it was just as he stated - excellent quality.   Paid $55 per sheet (in 2013).  Also picked up 2 sheets of 1 1/4" x 4' x 8' MDO, paper on both sides, paintable.  This was an outstanding buy (at $60 each) and superb quality.  Speaking of MDO, have you considered it for your boats?  I'm using the 3/8 marine I bought for the bottom; and the rest of my boat is MDO - floorboards; gunwales; cabin; hardtop.  Most of it is paper one side, paintable; but I do have a few sheets paper both side, paintable.  Careful you don't get the oiled stuff which cannot be painted.   I love it.  Its ability to plane in a thickness planer, or by hand is just like solid lumber; it's gluability with epoxy is superb; its paintability on the paper side is unmatched; it's void quality is as good as most ply, if not better; just an all around great material made for boat building.  And I'm getting mine from a discount warehouse in Portland (anywhere from $20 to $30 per sheet, 4x8 and 4x10, in 3/8", 1/2", 3/4", 1").  And any voids or gaps are easily filled with epoxy/sanded/painted - you'd never know any gap ever existed.   If you did get any from Eagle, you could always stop by the warehouse in Portland on your way back to Idaho, and look the mdo over and maybe buy a couple sheets for a trial run.   Good luck on your search.

I purchased marine grade plywood from Webbco in Pocatello, ID.  He did not have it in stock, but was able to have it here in two days.
