Thanks for the info and photo, I plan on figuring something out. Also, what did you use on the exterior wall in reference to your cockpit drain? Your recent boat turned out really well! Have you had the opportunity to take her out? I picked up my plans from Andy, and continuing advice to make my Nevills boat eventually happen. Marc

Hey, I am building a stitch and glue Nevills boat. The hull is so shallow that a self-bailing rowers cockpit would end up as a sit on top. Since cataract boats have an extremely wet design, I wanted to pick your brain about bilge pumps. It appears you have spent a chunk of time trying different options. I am wondering what choices have worked best for you? Type of pump, plumbing diameter, etc, and etc. Also, info from anyone else would be appreciated. Thanks Marc

Hey Jeremy:  that looks like a familiar stage on your Briggs - hope that comes together well for you.  I too got some plans from Andy back in 2000 and cobbled together my Briggs boat, just returned from my 6th Grand trip with it on a 25,000 flow, best ride ever.

best, Jim

Hey Jeremy:  hope you had a great float, let me know what happened, looking at your fetal briggs brings back old memories, can't believe it's been 10 years since I built mine.

best to you, Jim

Alright! hope to explore down there while out in the split mtn area, do a loop type of trip. have wanted to experience that river. the boulder boat works boat is great, i love it, i don't have any other experience with other dory boat lines & construction, but compared to my rafting background, its paradise.

Jeremy,

Thanks for the info, I have not started on the interior yet, so your input is very helpful.

Cheers,

Jeremy,

I am in the planning stages of a decked dory and am picking the brains of all you dory guys regarding hatch design. One of the photos on your page (great photos by the way!) "flip test" got me thinking of the water tightness of prolonged exposure to water such as a flip. Did the water stay out? Any photos or guidance you could send along of hatch design would be appreciated...

Cheers,

Robb Grubb
