Wooden Boat Festival in Riggins

Wondering if there would be any interest to have a wooden boat festival in Riggins Idaho on the Salmon River? Lots of fishing and lots of river to float.

I'd be interested, depending on the date.  It's about a 7 hour drive from my house in Montana.

I may be interested as I will be potentially driving by the area in Mid-April and Mid-May. However the third and fourth weeks of May are statistically the weeks of greatest runoff, near or above the flood stage of 35 feet on the gauge at Whitebird. It can take another month or more to get reasonable water flow for most wooden boaters. Prior to that it can be a little chilly. Any ideas?

Where would you stage boats being set out for people to look at? Possibly the city park parking lot (leaving the boats on trailers) where you could take out depending on the section you wanted to float, though its not the biggest boat ramp. Depending on how many people and boats you have space could be an issue in the narrowest city in the U.S. You may want to check in with Mountain River Outfitters. They may have some ideas that could help you out.

I may well go, dependent on scheduling of the event.  I have not been on the LMS in years, I want like to see it again.  Where are put in choices?

There is quite a few options for put ins. There is Island Bar down to Shorts Bar, about 2 miles, Island bar into Town and then you can put in at Lucile and go down to Manords Hole take out. And there is a couple slides in places north of town. There is a lot of options for up to class to maybe a really light class 3.

Staging the boats could happen at either the city park or like the boat racers do at the Salmon Rapids Lodge. There is a large vacant lot right off of there parking lot there.
