Ok it is dilemma time!

Do I purchase a used wooden boat and restore it?
Do I make one from absolute scratch?($?????.??)
Do I buy a kit? (Montana Boat Builders) ($10,000 at most)
Do I buy a brand new perfect boat($22,000) this does include travel including fishing in Montana.
Do I buy a fiber glass boat ( ok that was an attempt at humor) haha.....crickets chirping ( tough crowd!)

I know these seem like silly questions however they may help more folks than just me.

Now let me just say, I am fairly handy ( knows how to use a hammer).

Thank you to everyone who has replied to my post! I have decided to start a boat from scratch. I have ordered the recommended books and my head is spinning. Any more comments will be much appreciated. Since prints aren't terribly expensive I am planning on ordering several different sets to compare this and that. To see what I like and what I can customize.

Again I thank you! If anyone makes it to Middle Tennessee look me up!

IF I had to do it all over again, I would do it exactly the same by going with a kit. I had no boat building experience, and little woodworking experience. I can only only speak for myself, but purchasing a quality kit, and having the support of this forum was awesome. It really gives a newbie the confidence to go forward with the build. In my case Randy and Sandy at Tatman helped me decide on a boat design and walked me through the process of building. So this is my official plug for a kit from the guys at Tatman. : )

I think the next boat I build will be from plans... have to wait and see on that.
