I have my old(84) greg tatman 17 1/2' highside guide boat tha I need to restore. The issues I know about are, some chine rot (soaked very thin epoxy ibad spots years ago), checking on sides (refinished it maybe 10 years ago so finish is ok) might be some rot on a few frames, and perhaps the biggest job...I took off the uhmw shoe and epoxy glassed over the bottom with graphite powder. I want to take the graphite bottom off and replace with a new uhmw shoe (despite the problems uhmw works orders of magnitude better). Trim down the sides to normal height, fix chine issues and add a few new things like swivel seats flycasting braces roe&aft ect. My real problem is twofold...one is taking the epoxy bottom off sounds like it will take forever and I am worried that try to take things apart, like the chines , will be very hard to do without destroying it all. This boat has been a good companion (sorry I know that sounds sappy) I used it guiding steelheaders in the eighties, ran my beaver trapline for years and of course just went fishing with it...a lot. So anyway are ther any resources out there to help me learn the best way to fix this? I also suppose I am looking for a little encouragement about sanding that bottom... I do have big grinders, disc and belt , and have done quite a bit of grinding work over the years on the fish boats I have owned and worked on.  Thanks
