We'll see. The engel 35 shown weighs around 25 pounds. It only holds I think 32 ish quarts. So filled with water it would be 57 pounds total. I'm going to fall back to your design if I cant make it work between the ribs. I am planning on gluing/screwing a false rib on the bow side of rib 8 and 7 to allow the cooler to sit level. My goal is to keep the cooler as low as possible to allow mounting a swivel and seat on top. The biggest limitation has been finding coolers with less than 17 inch width to fit between the ribs thats also short enough to mount a seat on top of. Once my side trays go in I think that engel will end up being the perfect size but we'll see. Im really hoping I can choose the engel because they are currently on sale on their website.
I contacted Jason Cajune about his rope seats and he was kind enough to send me a pdf plan for them so I'm hoping the wood/rope seat on top of the cooler will kind of blend the modern/classic ideas nicely
yeah with the side trays rod storage is answered and everyone can have their stuff right next to them all the time. I hate digging in bags for a fly box or whatever. Not to mention beer holding capacity is basically unlimited
Cant figure out how to post the screen shots but heres the video of us getting it down
Video of the extraction
Nerve wrecking to watch, can't imagine doing it. Great crew!
You buy the beer?
oh yes, in my mind that was the only guarantee of the boats safety. We had one before the move to calm the nerves
