I am working on a scratch built 16' Double Ender w/transom and using blogger to document my work.

I have added two updates. One is a long winded show of scarfing. The other is general progress. Take a gander at:

Dave,

Thanks for this blog post. I am relatively new to the wood boat building hobby / obsession, and have had several questions regarding this very topic. I appreciate your willingness to share your knowledge. I do have one question for you though, you have mentioned on a few occasions on this web site that you are a big fan of oil finishes on the interior of your boats. How does the oil work on the sections on the joints that are epoxied?

I am excited to keep up with your progress on the blog.

Thanks again,

JDR
Jesse- On this boat, I will be epoxy-ing the exterior of the plywood. I am leaving the inside bare wood until it is complete. At this point, the boat will receive oil. So....there is very little epoxy showing anywhere on the interior of the boat- actually, none. On the joints, I don't worry about it. The only joints with epoxy are the frame unions and some seat parts. The inner chine logs and floor are bed down with either 3M 5200 caulking or Sikaflex 291.

Thanks for looking!
Dave
Dave - how many cans of Five hour Energy do you go through a day? Raising a family, building a boat and writing a blog. How ever many it is keep doing it because it is very instructional (and inspirational) to those of us just starting in this passion. The feel for and love of old tools becomes real that's for sure. Just wanted you to know that you have another fan on your blog. Thanks Jon C.
Jon,

I love life. Life is short and there are alot of things I want to do. Really, I do most of my work in the evening. We have dinner as a family, play with the kids, put them to bed. My wife and I will hang out for a while, then I do about 2 hours of work.

Stay tuned, the really fun stuff is coming up.
Dave
Dave,
Looking good man - keep up the good work.
I too enjoy working in the evenings, after the chaos of the day has run its course... good time to reflect and level out.
Thanks for updating the blog - will be following the progress!
