Bos anchor system
Looking at anchor systems. It seems like it would be nice to run the anchor rope under the floor like in the Bo's floor system. Has anyone had issues with this type of system freezing when fishing in the winter?

Don't use a pvc tube to run the rope through. Just bare rope under the floors through the frames.

To avoid ice in build up in the tube? Think there could be wear issues on the rope sending it through holes in the frame?

10 years on the same anchor rope and the wood is fine too. I'm not worried about it.

Hey Ben,
I have this system and do a fair amount of winter fishing here in MI.
When it's really cold the rope tends to freeze if it's coiled up in the bottom of the boat. The mechanism has not really frozen up on me, but a frozen rope doesn't like to feed through the foot release.
It isn't bad if you are fishing from the boat all day, and the bottom of your boat doesn't have water from your boots slushing up in the bottom.
In a perfect world (for me anyways) I would use a side anchor system in the winter, and my foot release the rest of the year.

You could always just put a PVC "collar" in the wood if you're worried about wear.

Where the holes are in the ribs for the rope to go thru use could drill the out the hole so a 3\4 alum conduit nipple would fit, then lock them in with the locking rings and put those screw on plastic wire saver covers on and it should be pretty safe for the rope.
