Bow Stem

What size of wood do you cut a bow stem out of?  2x4? 2x6? or larger?  thanks

2X6 will do it especially if you laminate a piece of white oak to it for the face piece (to protect the ends of the plywood).

I wondered about the raw edge of the plywood, now I know how to cover it.  Thanks
