1st time builder. I've spoken to some canyon guides who suggested omitting the transom and making the boat a double ender. Question: Using Roger's plans do I just extend the side panels length until they meet and tie it together like the front? Anyone with specific info on how much to extend the side panels? Thanks.

Yes, you can extend the lines of the boat but take special care to note any changes in the side panel. About a year ago I modified to the lines for Jeffrey Peak who also wanted a double-ender but he didn't want to extend the length of the boat. For a look at his boat go to the link below and then scroll down to Jeffrey's post on April 27.

Thanks Roger. Jeff's boat is beautiful thanks for the link. Did he have to modify the standing bevels of the last few frames to keeppp the length the same? Is this modification more complex than what can be covered here? Thanks, Joe
Jeff employed stitch and glue construction and so the bevels weren't an issue for him, but Yes, the standing bevels for the last couple of frames would indeed change a bit. If you're interested in that boat I'll see if i can resurrect the revisions I made. If you choose to extend the lines of the boat as it exists, then the standing bevels would not change. If you want to pursue Jeff's boat then it will be best to contact me directly.
Joe, did you do the double ender? how did the hull turn out? got any pics?
Ya Jeff got it together at both ends. Really psyched so far. Between your input, Roger's and the forum, everything on the bottom and hull have cruised along with only a few speed bumps. Just got the self bailing thing purchased and will turn it over tonight if I can get enough brawn over here. Will shoot out some pics this weekend - Joe
