This is my first post on this site and it was a stroke of luck that I found it. Back in 1985 I was given a 14 foot drift boat that was in need of some repair. Turns out the whole boat was rotted and all I had was two sheets of 1\4 inch. marine plywood that was tobe used to fix the sides. So I tore the whole boat apart and used it as a pattern and made my own boat. That was then and I still have the boat. About five years ago my daughter-in-law's Uncle wanted to know if I wanted to buy a 1972 Don Hill 16 ft. highside guide model drift boat that he and a friend  bought in kit form, and which they never put together. It came with two 9 ft. Smoker oars, A BO'S Anchor release, all the UHMW parts, the only thing missing was the instruction manual and wood screws and the fly line deck. All for only $500. Well I bought the screws, bought a manual and a piece of very good 1\4" plywood for the deck, and this winter my son and I are going to put it together. I don't need a trailer because about the time I rebuild the old boat I built a new drift boat trailer. Went up on the Kalama River out of Kalama, Wa and went to one of the boat ramps and took a tape measure with me and found the trailer I wanted, took a bunch of measurements and came back home and built one. My boys who are now men are getting me back into fishing after 18 years of not fishing. They are the ones who are teaching me how to fish again. Now everything is bobber and jig in the Pacific North West. I will try to keep you posted on how it is going and the progress we make on the boat as we go.
