Just discovered this web-site about 2 weeks ago, theres lots of good information here.Getting ready to put my fly line deck on the trapper, what height to set it at,do you install a cleat on inside of side panel or transom. Also the discussion about sliding seats.Any help would be appreciated.
i've measured a few hydes and clackas the last couple weeks wondering that same question. most of those seem to be about 25" high on the top of the front braces, and 28-30" high on the rear braces. what i am still having trouble with on mine is how far back the deck comes back from the stem. most of the boats i have measured all seem to have different measurements, but the boats have been varied...high sides, low profile, skiffs, etc. i imagine this i due to the trim requirements for each hull. i wonder what that distance is for a standard 16 mckenzie? my plan currently is just to wing it using the old deck as a template even though is seems a little short. I wonder what the measurement is on yours, and i wonder of that distance is again different from a standard 16' mckenzie due to the trim requirements of the trapper hull.

Do what fits for you. There are no set measurements. I like my knee braces high- above the knees. so- put your floors in, put your wading boot son and stand in the boat with a yardstick. measure where you need it. I can;t stand knee locks that hit your knees.
You can make the side cleat 5 inches in front of the last frame. I used two pieces of white oak, screwed from the outside in.
