I am restoring an old mackenzie (1st attempt at wooden boat work) and was wondering about checking for leaks.
Best I can figure is just take it out to the lake and see what happens.
However, the boat has bare wood and painted sections.
The boat will eventually be primered and painted.
I am looking for advice on when the lake float should happen. Prior to primer coat, after primer coat, or after the entire boat is primed and painted.
What might be easier to work with after if I do find any leaks.
Thoughts on checking for leaks techniques?
Thanks!
Mike
