Last night I awoke at 2am. I had some things on my mind. Work related, stress, typical BS. So I grabbed Roger's book off the shelf, went downstairs in the quiet house and started readinig again. I've read this book so many times that if eyes could wear out written words, I'd need an extra copy. I gravitate to the sections about Woodie Hindman, Prince Helfrich and Veltie Pruitt. Then I flip forward to the plans. I am really itching to start building a true double ender. Not the 16 footer, but the sweet little 13 footer. This boat has always been on my list and it might be time to get started on it.
So I got my plans out.... Roger had sent me a full set of a copy of the 13 footer plans a couple of years ago. Then I started taking inventory. I went out to the garage (3am now) and started looking at the lumber racks, seeing what was there and what was crying out at me to be twisted and tortured into a boat.
I have enough fir for a frame set. A trunk of dried white oak for stem and stern. Enough 1/2" Meranti for seats. A full sheet of 1/2" fir that would be part of the bottom. A sheet of 1/4" that would serve as a part of the hull..... Seems to me that I'm almost there.
So.... back into the house. I'm tired by now, the stressers left me and I slept good. Today is a different day. The work issues took care of themself, I have a boat on the mind and and probably going to figure out how and when to start this thing.
Alright, so who built one of these and wants to post pics to further coax me into building one of my own?
