So we made another run to our river "up-north". Had a most productive weekend. We basically fished behind the spawning kings for steelhead and browns. We did have a number of hookup and landings on salmon which is always fun.

We were able to fish some hard to access runs on Friday morning in the down pouring rain. It paid off - as my cousin nailed a few nice browns picking off eggs behind the redd. The fish were cool looking in their fall colors... it is worth mentioning that the browns are wild in there. A dam free river with wild fish - doesn't get much better...

The boat performed well getting us to the fish and traveling in comfort...

Here are a few pics I took while we were out...
Enjoy!

Cool colors on this one...

Nice Brown.

I landed this Jack King on my 6 weight - with an indicator and a single weighted egg fly.

Better get a move on - it's getting dark...

Yup - it's salmon season in N.W MI

Cool bird.

What can I really say about this?

As for taht last photo, I've seen a truck like that around here. Some people just love to advertise their stupidty (head shaking with a half-frown.)
Jason,

Your boat came out beautiful. I recognize where you were at. I have been through that stretch quite a few times. I am getting the itch to get out and chase a few browns and steelhead. It has been a while. The salmon do not interest me anymore. I get enough of them each summer in AK. We put in 1,276,000 pounds this year.

Sometimes a nymph and egg combination will work really well on the browns and steelhead. Good luck and have a great time.
That combo has been known to take two fish at a time. At least for a few moments........

LOVE the last pic, LMAO!

I am not a fan of how loud I am sure that truck is, but I am sure it does get him better gas mileage and more power.

Nice browns too Jason.

Nice post, nice browns, nice boat!
We have been having lots of fun this fall... we are probably off the water until the middle of November to chase the steel. Well that's what I say - but if there is time to sneak a trip in, you know we will!

Oh and that truck was horrible btw... you can see the haze of exhaust that was coming off that thing...
