Back in the eighties I guided a young guy who had an aluminum boat that had a Formica skid shoe. He came back the next weekend ( working my spots) with it and it seemed as slick as my uhmw bottom. He had bought it like that and had not had any problems with the shoe. I have always wanted to explore using formica. I don't know if wood being more flexible would be a problem.Has ant one else ever seen Formica used? Any thoughts on this?

Hey Bob,

I have seen two older wood boats that had Formica skid shoes and both of the owners swore by it. It is something I have thought about but not tried. It seems like it would not be that expensive of a test.
