high school build

Many of you are familiar with the project last year from our local high school shop class that produced 5 Grand Banks Dories.This year they're itching to get started on some sort of drift boat.They're looking to build something that would be less tippy and more river worthy(the upper snake river).My thought was a small rapid robert  that potentially could be fitted with a motor.Thought I would throw this out there and see what feedback I could get.Any thoughts?

Why not go classic and build a 16x48 hindeman double ender with transom? That's the classic design IMHO. That way every kids can get a history lesson on all the boats they see buzzing thru town in the summer. They are pretty much all copies of the classic mckenzie.. Just a little bigger, wider and flatter..

The rapid robert is also classic, and mabye better suited for the lakes with a motor, but i still think the mckenzie is the sweet hull design with the best river handing characteristics
