Sorry that was mostly to get your attention. I dont have a hole in my boat persay, what I have is an I-bolt in the front where the two sides meet. The bolt is for attaching the rope to draw the boat on the trailer. Any way, in my process of pre-sanding I have noticed that a little water damage from where some seeps through. Any suggestions on what to seal that "hole" with?

whenever I have holes to the outside- for a drain plug, eye bolt, etc, I will coat the hole with epoxy first. after it cures, i goop it up when i install the bolt. 3M 5200 or Sikaflex 291. seals up those small entry points good.
Yup, Dave Z has it just right. almost every through-hull on the big salt water boats are bedded with 35 5200 or Silkaflex.

Use about four times as much as you think you need. When you bed the bolt make sure to not over tighten. The goopy poly glue will act like a permanent gasket so you want to insure you do not starve the joint of goop. Put a little lock-tight on the nut so it stays put. Then let the mushy over run of the poly sealant dry until it can be cut with a knife. Cut and scrape away all the extra.
that makes good sense, thanks for the replies gents.
