My 16' has been stripped to bare wood and I'm ready to glass. How much West Marine 105 / 206 should I buy to be able to cover the appropriate layers with a few layers with graphite on top? I don't plan on covering the sides outside of the glass lap up to the side boards. On a side note, this boat didn't come with chine battons but the glass was wrapped up under the side "bumper" boards (McKenzie / Hill style). I may attempt to develop chine battons in the future and apply over the glass under the bumpers. Is this a realistic plan? Any input appreciated.

Hello Timothy,

Any photos would be appreciated. I'm just a little confused about what you are calling the side bumper boards. A glass bottom should not be wrapped over any board added to the chine. If you have glass on the side of your boat up to and under the rub rails then that is quite a bit of fabric to cover.

Usually one gallon is not quite enough to do a bottom and two gallons is too much. If you do have work to do on the side of the boat then two gallons would be the most efficient way to buy.

If you have stripped the bottom to bare wood then it will soak up some extra epoxy.
