I just finished my Rapid Robert build and am ready to launch.  I contacted my insurance agent to have it included in my policy coverage.  To my dismay,  I was told the company only insures "commercially built" boats.  They said they would try to find a company that would accept it.
If you know a company that will insure it, Please let me know.  Thanks!

Larry,
My boat/trailer is insured through my regular insurance company.
Just added it to my existing policies.
PM me if you need some details.

Good luck,
Jason
Jason: Would you be kind enough to tell me the name of the company. Thanks

Mine is through Safeco in Seattle. They ask about the make, but my sense is that is only for ID purposes. Very economical. I have two boats and two trailers insured with them, and it is less than $200 for everything, including contents.
Yeah I had to send in a picture and an estimate of the total loss value of the package.
Thankfully I have not had to test that out. Depending on how much coverage you want you can get it pretty cheap, you can whittle down the liability injury stuff (more applicable to hitting someone with your speedboat) and insure for basic value for the craft. My worry was less of sinking, but more of getting totaled on the highway or stolen.
How do determine the value of a home built boat ?
What do you think your boat would sell for if you sold it?
What would you need out of it if it was ruined in accident to break even? That's what I based mine on, and that is the dollar amount it is insured for, add in the price of a trailer and you will have a rough figure.
