Hi All, am using Interlux Brightside Polyurethane paint, and was VERY suprised to get back to the boatshop after a week away at work to find a few spots on the first coat still tacky, and a few other spots still damp enough to get paint onto my hand. What's up with that? Boat shop temps in the 40's at night, high 80's in the day, very low relative humidity. Thoughts? Thanks, yours, tom with red paint on his hands.,..

the interlux web sight says not to go thick and not to go below 50 degrees. i would let it sit for some more time, maybe with a space heater. here is the link to the data sheet

this is from Interlux

"Do not apply heavy coats as this will affect dry through. Failure to follow proper dry times carefully will cause improper drying, wrinkling and loss of adhesion. Avoid painting in direct sunlight. Product temperature should be minimum 10°C/50°F and maximum 29°C/85°F. Ambient temperature should be minimum 10°C/50°F and maximum 35°C/95°F. Substrate temperature should be minimum 10°C/50°F and maximum 29°C/85°F. "
Hi Sandy, BINGO! I applied the paint like i would paint my kitchen walls. Most likely too thick. Also didn't use the 333 brushing thinner. Ok, NEXT TIME! It was the bottom of the boat, and we have time to let it continue to harden. Will try a thinner coat and multiple coats on the sides and top. Appreciete the Link! Yours, tom
