Today an aluminum boat got stuck in Marten Rapids.  It is 1/2 in, 1/2 out of the water.  It makes this already significant rapid dangerous.  The Coast Guard helicoptered the 2 boatmen to safety, after they were stuck there 4 hours.  Hopefully, the boat will be remover soon.  I boated the dam to Leaburg for steelhead on flies.  At this low level, those running wood boats should have any guest wade at the put in to join you after you run the first pour off into the main channel.  At this level, with just an oarsman, you will make a couple of bumps on some rocks even with a perfect run.  Watch your bottoms, fellow woodies.  Finally, the cut at the gravel storage pour off at Greenwood Drive is getting tricky at this low level.  You should be prepared to "ship" your right oar, ala Slim Pickins on the Rogue, 1/2 way through this snorty little spot.

UPDATE:  Walked in Ben & Kay Dorris this AM.  The boat is far right of the proper line in Marten Rapids.  It will not stop you from navigating this rapid.  Still, be mindful that as the water lowers, this rapid becomes more difficult.
