I just took on another Don Hill restoration project...This poor boat was media-blasted by the previous owner, him trying to remove the old checked paint with that process, according to my client.  It  didn't work very well ..the area he had done looks like driftwood.  The hard parts of the fir grain is still there, the soft grain is....blasted away.  Don't do this to a boat!  What was that guy thinking?  Luckily, they only did a small section, which I can save.

This boat needs a new bottom and both chines have soft sections.  There are a couple of broken floor frames and the usual surface checking.  The scarfs on the gunwales have 'let go' but I think I can 'save' the gunwales.

This fellow is going to do his own sanding and finishing.  I have him accepting that painting, inside and out, is a more realistic finish strategy than trying for oil, which is how he was thinking to go, at first.

Hopefully, with the owner doing the time-consuming  sanding and painting on his own after I properly restore the structure, this Don Hill project will make him happy and I may even earn a little money, rather than doing the work for the fun of it, like most of my Boat Projects seem to end up.
