Hello all,
I am new to building boats and planning to build my first one. A friend gave me a set of plans for a Don Hill standard 16' drift boat but the set does not have page one of the building instructions. I was wondering if any of you have a copy of the page I am missing. I am currently in the planning stages (saving the money) and would like to have all of my ducks in a row before I kick-off the project. Until then, I'm sure that I will have alot of questions about materials and the building process and it seemed to me that this site would help tremendously.
Hi Ray
My name is David Edwards of Don Hill Boats. If you will give me the page number I will send you a copy.
I also am available for questions about building it.
For everyone else just FYI, David is now the copyright owner of the Don Hill manual so it is his right to post that material online for free.
If you are going to scan and post copyrighted material please make sure that you have rights to do so as David does. It is fantastic to share information as we are. It is not fantastic to post information that is the property of someone else. This quick and generous post made me aware of our copyright responsibilities to each other.
Thank you Dave for publishing this page for me. I appologize for not realizing the copyright laws, at the time I requested the copy the frustration of not having the page I needed got the best of me...will not happen again. Looking forward to building the boat
Ok lesson learned, I would not want to offend or infringe on Dave Edwards rights. I bought plans from him and found him to be very helpful and quick with shipping what I ordered. Bye the way what ever happened to Don, for my knowledge, I met him years ago when rebuilding my first boat in his shop/garage in Springfield. Nice guy building a beautiful boat at the time that I was very jealous of. Thanks again David.
No apologies necessary. I'm really happy that this forum was able to connect Ray and David and get the right info exchanged quickly from the right person. That is great and what the forum is for.
David. I'll let you respond about Don. I haven't had an update since this summer.
Thanks to everyone for the responses and especially to Randy for seeing the copyright connection.
Don is doing well, he is in an assisted living facility in Eugene. I see him once a week or so and take him to lunch, just so he can get out a bit. I will let him know of everyones thoughts.
If anyone needs questions answered about Don's plans and building, he is still right there with all that so I have a great reference for the l things I don't quite know as well as he does. Just use the Contact Us page on the web site, dhdriftboats.com or contact me at david@riverbird.com.
