I'll admit that I've been stalking this site for some time. After reading about other's boats and projects, I think my time has come. There is something about a way a wood drift boat looks and feels, maybe it's the craftmans in me or something unexplainable. So I've been watching Craigslist and other sites for a project boat. I've also considered buying a kit or building one from plans. I know my way around a shop and have the room for a winter project.
A buddy and I were given a 15 yr old Woody style drifter yesterday and after going thru it, there isn't anything that can be saved from all the dry rot. My buddy wants to do it on the cheap and I wanna do it right. So I kinda feel like I'm back at square one.
I know this is a broard question to ask, but I wasn't sure where to start the conversation. So any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Karl,
I've followed your website via Stanberry's. I like what you guys have done down there. The boat was a senior HS woodshop project. The oar locks are solid rings for permant fixture to a boat, no anchor bracket, the seat mounts are brokem. The only thing in the postive is a solid trailer. More or less the boat has been left out in the elements for a few years.
