ANYBODY KNOW HOW TO FIX OARS THAT ARE BENT. IT LOOKS LIKE THEY GOT WET THEN DRYED OUT AND HAVE A BEND TO THEM KNOW. I NEED SOME GOOD ADVISE. THEY ARE STILL IN GOOD SHAPE BESIDES THE BEND. PLEASE HELP!

Soak them again and bend them the other way. Sounds too simple but it works.
WILL THEY EVER STAY STRAIGHT IF I SOAK THEM AND KEEP THEM STRAIGHT WHEN DRYING? AFTER THEY DRY THEN RE-SEAL THEM.
I've rowed with unitentionally bent oar blades (smoker solid ash) for 11 years. Each or has to be in it's own lock though, one oar fits well in one lock and the other oar fits well in the other. Makes for a interesting start to every trip. Gee, this dosen't feel right. How fast can I remove and replace...pretty darn quick. The unintentional cup does scoop a good amount of water :-) It would be easy to mark each oar or but that would be to to easy
OK Try this. Soak the oars in a creek for a few days. Now put them on saw horses and hang a five gallon bucket at the top of the bend. Now add weight till the oar bends the other way. You must bend it back past straight to take the curve out. Check every now and then and repeat as needed.
thanks
If AJ's method did not do the trick( it will no doubt unless you live in the desert) you might have to resort to steam bending. Ash is very easy to steam- think snowshoes. My kneelocks are steamed white oak. Oars that are bent in the bow-stern direction are not to bad. If in the up-down orientation are a real PITA. Do you know anyone with a hot tub?
Good luck- let us know how it worked out
If you don't have a creek and don't want to steam bend try to stick the oars in a hot tub for a few days. Just thinking outside the box
Good luck
I just bent mine back to straight again. Had one a good 1 inch out of wack. We had a little rain here a week ago (its 109 now!), so I put the oars out in the rain while over-straightening the bow with some large c-clamps. 4 days later, they were straight. Like everybody else said, water, weight and wait.
I'm drinking a beer now...
