Hey...I have a vintage Tatman boat I am prepping for some adventures...and need oar advice.  I have 3 wooden Gull oars that I have to refinish.  I really want to wrap them instead of using the plastic oar sleeves that came with them...can anyone help with wrapping/stop installation advice?? THanks!!!!!!!

I followed Brad Dimocks advice:

There is more discussion of the subject in past threads, try a search.

So far I really like the leathers

Christopher:  After you get the oars with either leathers or wraps a classy looking stop is the turks head knot. 3/16 or 1/4" would make a good one.
good luck

Very nice...that is exactly what I was looking for...do you have a picture?? I will be doing paracord wraps...

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chris,

This link looked like a pretty 'painless' (my way hurts too much) way to wrap oars with rope. You can put any style of stop on after.

Christopher,

this oar rapping method helped me a ton when I was re-doing my oars.
