Oil chine batten?

Oil chine batten?

If not, why not?

I was thinking about oiling chine batten as it is will get scratched/gouged.

oil the hell out of it.  the only thing varnished on my boats are seat tops and exterior side panels.  rails, battens, interiors are all oiled.

go for it.
