I want to paint the bottom of the inside of my boat and then oil the rest of the wood.  If I use Latex paint on the bottom will the oil mixture mess with it?  Especially since it's half Kerosene?

Do you really mean kerosene? We use kerosene lamps at the camp. A boat saturated with kerosene would stink to high heaven", might make some people sick to the stomach and be a big fire hazzard. Nowadays kerosene is dyed red- to prevent(detect) using it in diesel engines. You might end up with a "pink" boat.

As to turps/linseed/pine tar/japan drier mix on the sides I don"t think it would bothher latex paint- if paint was well cured and you wiped up any excess oil off the latex immediaely.

Need more info on this "kerosene" brew.
Sorry, Turpentine! I was tired!
Turps- now you are on the mark. Wipe off the excess with rags- best done out in the hot sun.
You realy don't need the pine tar- but I love the smell of the stuff, and it will darken the hull somewhat.
Good Luck
ok, where do you get the pine tar?
I bought some at the local Tractor Supply. I guess they use it on horse hooves? Maybe a feed store might have it in your area too. I also like the smell.

I get mine at Hamilton Marine 1-800-639-2715. Also someone reported that Tractor Supply has it- Apparently they use it for horse hoof repair or somesuch. Try the local big animal vet for a starter

Off for the next 2 months going after stripe bass, bluefish etc on an island with no electricity. This past week they got a great white shark- small 6 footer. A little big for a 8 wt Sage Rod. They tagged the white and turned him loose
2 MONTHS? I officially hate you.

I used to work at Tractor Supply when I was in school and remember the pitch now; didn't know that's what you meant. It's 2 miles from my house!! Thanks guys!
