Hey everyone! I am looking to build a small plywood, outboard skiff in the summer. It is my first project and I don't know what to build. It needs to be about 10-13ft, sturdy, stable, good looking, and low cost.
Nick: Get in contact with Dynamite Pason of Thomaston, Maine. I built one of his "Fishermans's Skiffs" about 10 years ago. We still use it all summer. Its about 12' can take a small 2-3hp. Very simple build with common lumberyard wood- nothing fancy but works. The jig is a simple 3 "mold" afair built with scrap lumber. As I recall his plans were about $35. Google him- he is a famous boatbuilder/modelmaker/author and has written numerous books on boatbuilding- of all types.
I would like that little Jon Boat they have a plan for on there... be fun for tooling around little lakes, and frog water on the river. You could probably make a slightly larger version with not much trouble. I would be tempted to build that and oil the entire thing, put a small outboard on it, call it good.
