Guess thats how we learn right? So the first attempt at wrapping, though they came out really good and rock solid and tight, I made a huge mistake. I also went back and added 3" more so I wanted to redo them anyway but I used a super duty fibergalss tape with some wicked adhesive. DONT USE THIS STUFF!!!! It looks like this pick, I couldnt find the package pick. I`m gonna go back in my build thread and try to change it.

It came out really good, but it was cold out when I did it. Once I got out in the river on a 90 deg day in the bright sun, the glue bled through the wrap and turned into a sticky mess.

Unwrapping the rope wasnt bad but trying to get that gooey tape off the shafts was a work out. I had to cut the 2" tape down the middle and work on each half, then used adhesive remover for the left over goo.

So this time I got thin, light duty 2 sided tape like one might use for grips on golf clubs

I rolled the donuts off the old wrap, taped my start and finish spots, stuck the 2 sided tape on and used the same method as before, started it with a over wrap (rolled the oars on a couple rubber wheels mounted to saw horses). I would advise to use a glove on the rope hand and make the wraps tight, use your other hand to turn the oar. I would also advise to keep that 100ft roll of rope neat and unwind about 10-15 ft at a time to work with. It comes rolled nice in the bag but if you get it into a birdsnest, good luck.

When I got about 4" from the end I laid my loop in place and wrapped over it. DONT lay the loop on the tape, you`ll never be able to pull it through (dont asl how I know)

Pulling that loop through with the tag end in it is the hardest part. I used a pc of wood on my hip to put the oar against, used a hammer handle in the loop to pull on, and used a small screw driver to pry the wraps over the loop/tag at almost every wrap. Once I got it through, trimmed it with a sharp knife and rolled the donut back on. They seem really good again, but not tested yet :)

Just for the record, a 2" shaft x 21" of wrap used almost 90ft of cord
