seat back slip-on covers
When Keith Steele was alive, he had a someone make slip-on padded covers for the guests' seat backs. These, along with a matching pad for the guests' bench seat, were available for purchase. Steve Steele, who is now building the famed Steele wooden driftboats, can't find anyone that he is pleased with to provide these cushions. Anybody in the Willamette Valley doing these?

If you want something quick you can pick up slip on covers from Koffler. They stock a slate gray that matches their aluminum boats.
Greg Hatten has some very sharp brown slip covers and seats that were custom made to fit. I think he told me they were made at Mobile in Eugene.

hi David... I had my slip on seat cushions and boat cover made by Stans Upholstery in Eugene - they are tucked away on Conger street or Wilson street / 6th Street. I was very happy with their work!! I went with a black cover and put brown piping around the seams. The Black & Tan looks pretty good - but it can get pretty hot out there when the sun is straight overhead... Greg

I heard about Mobile at the boat show last year. I have not used them but remember being recommended.
Anyway, Greg's cushions do look really great.

Have you checked out the river from Martin's and below. It would be nice to know where that tree ended up.

I have not. I walk my dog in Ben & Kay each morning at first light (so I can walk with the elk). The river is still a little high; as it drops, I'll float Ben & Kay to the dam and report. A couple of weeks ago I reported last year's big tree was gone. It is, however as water subsided, 2 smaller trees are visible there. The good news is that they are hung up pretty much true upstream and downstream and do not make setting up for the rapid as tough as last year in low water. Stay tuned!

Randy - thanks for the compliments on my seat cushions... I wish I would've known about Mobile, I definitely would've checked them out... Stan's is really an "automotive" shop... they do good work but it was all custom stuff and they were a little pricey... oh well.
Hey David - thanks for the update on tree's... I really like running that section & I'm very interested in where the big Marten's Tree ended up.... I will stay tuned.

Is there a chance you could post a photo of your seat cushions? I'm starting to get a few grunts form the front seat passengers as I see them trying to stretch the kinks out of there backs.

I added some very firm foam for the seat pad and have gotten a number of compliments from my passengers after a long day of sitting. (I really like the slip cover feature... allows me to quickly take the cover off and keep it dry in the tent - particularly handy when there is frost, mist, or heavy dew - also works as a pretty good pillow in a pinch).

did you have them add firm pad/foam when placing your order or did you add on a piece after you picked up the finished product? I'd also be interested if the foam is closed cell foam? I'm assuming it is.
What fabric on seat cover and backs do you think I should ask for. Yours look water repellent to some degree.
