Hello I am just starting to build a spira international Mackinaw Drift boat and was wondering if anyone out there has built one. The plains I have are a least poor. What I am wondering is how you cut out for the sheer clamp & chine log. Is it strait or angled? I e-mail Mr. Spria for help and have had no response yet. It must have been my tone when I told him what I thought of his plains (I don’t no).any help or suggestions would be great

Thank You Roger

Hey Roger,

I have not built one of these. Do not cut the chine log square it will end up angled towards the sides of the boat and collect water, cut it more or less to match the angle of the rib with the most flair (middle of the boat) probably some where between 25 and 30 deg.

The frames will need notches to accept the chine log, the top cut will match the angle of the chine and the side cuts will match the side angle of the side ribs (which I do know are not included in the plans and you will have to figure out).

Hope this helps and was not too confusing.

Mike
