Well friends, it is spring steelhead time...
This past weekend we took the boat out and put our first steel in the boat!
Started out on a bigger river with lots of sleds and general river madness... I managed a nice colored up male on a stonefly I tied. He put up a fight worth remembering - we had to chase him half way down the river.

We decided to leave the wake of jetboats behind up and hit the non-motorized waters of one of MI's finest trout/steelhead/salmon fisheries (Pere Marquette River). We were glad we did, although the temp was dropping the fishing was pretty good. John pulled this colorful girl out of a nice bend on a white scud style nymph.

These pics were taken one day apart... it was 62 and sunny of Friday... snowed Friday night and we woke up to snow on the ground Saturday morning. Go figure.

All in all it was a great time. The boat took us where we needed to go in style. Does it get much better than catching wild steelhead in a woodie? I think not.

Looking forward to the wooden boat show and seeing some of my western friends on the McKenzie next month.

Thanks for looking!
Jason
