Stripping agents

Well, I bought some 3M Safest Strip for paint and varnish, but it doesn't really work on my boat. I let the 3M cure for 2 hours, and still nothing. Any suggestions on another product?

I used a product called Citristrip. Found it at a local hardware store. AJ suggested Aqua Strip but I couldn't find any locally so I went with this stuff. It's a gel and it has worked pretty well. Admittedly I have nothing to compare it with so I may be up in the night. However, I stripped all the varnish off my boat with one application and just sanded after to get the desired finish. All told, I was about 8 hours for almost the entire interior of my boat.

Well, after I started this thread, I decided that I better give it a better chance. The 3M Safest Strip does work, you just have to give it twice the amount of time to set. After that I am pretty impressed with the test result. Here's another question for you, did you use an epoxy on the interior after stripping? If so, what product, and how much did it cost?

I have not used any epoxy. I am going to oil the interior of my boat. That that is not entirely true. I did use a little epoxy on a crack, but it was more of a repair than a finish. I used a product by Deavcon. It's waterproof and specifically for wood. Sorry, I wish I could have been more help on that front. :(

The Deavcon..is it a clear coat finish and can you apply a varnish over top of the oil? and thinking down the road when I have to do this again, does the oil come off easily with stripping agent?
