I am about to purchase my first drift boat and it shall be wood. However it will be used almost exclusively on the Deschutes River and thus fishing in studded wading boots at all times. Other than tossing mats or pieces of carpet in the boat what are other ways others have solved for or worked around this problem?

plain old wood. just count on replacing your floors every 5 or so years. no big deal.
AMEN- keep it simple
A friend uses commercial rubber kitchen mats in his boat, cut to fit.
I went the "rubber mat" route a few years ago and really like em... cut to fit for the passenger area up front and for the rowers "foot-well"....

Dave is right on. Oil the boards whenever they wear down a bit. I personally cover the rowers foot well with floorboards. Never liked the Idea of standing directly on the hull bottom.
