Wooden Car People?
I am about to purchase a new car and have fallen in love with the idea of a Mini Cooper Clubman Woody. I have been searching for months for the best person to achieve my goal and came across this site. Your workmanship is top notch -- just beautiful and I'm hoping that you will help me or direct me to someone who may be interested in helping me with creating a mini-woody. I've attached a link with examples of mini woody cars. Looking forward to any and all comments.

No, I just joined the site and have not made those connections. Which parts are you trying to make or have for the car? Much work is done by copying parts that are removed from the car anyway. Templates are made and then the parts are produced from them. Stuff like the visor and door trim parts can be shipped and then copied. The problem is that the car is wthout them in the meantime. I'm not saying that I could do all those parts, but " parts is parts". It's just some wood. Being consistent with styling or species makes for a whole appearance and the nature of the milling, or the shapes involved, are the other part. Cars have a very high detail level; probably above most furniture. I have local (to me) species like walnut, maple, birch, and white oak. I don't have easy access imported woods.

Hi Lee,
Thanks for your help. I am interested in doing the exterior trim for now. I guess you would need the car to create the trim since there are no existing part to copy.
I am interested in finding someone to help me, but I don't want to waste your time. If you find out something new, I would like to hear from you.

Did you try to talk to those people who do those cars? maybe they could send you the parts. The more I thought about it the more difficult it seems to make all of those parts. You pretty much would have to have the car in hand or one just like it to get the contours. There aren't many woodworkers here that would do that type of thing. I would check with the local woodworker's guild or maybe somebody that does sets for the movies. They might be able to do that sort of thing. It is sculpture and you might find an artist capable of that type of rendering.
Just a thought , It is an interesting project.
