Sorry to hear about the boat and truck, but what a great story.

I travel on ice/snow covered roads all winter long to steelhead fish on the Rogue from where I live and have had more close calls then I would like to think about.

    Welcome to the forum btw.

    wow, what a story,
Ray's boats are beautiful and your refit looks terrific.

Welcome to wooden boats and thanks for sharing the adventure.

This is a pretty cool site. There are a few other wood driftboat forums, but they seem to be geared more towards strictly the building part.

This place is more social, hell I dont even get greif around here when I post pics of my other boats that aren't wood!

    Have fun,

    Mike

    Hey TJ,
I am refinishing a 16' Tatman and I hope mine looks as good as yours when I am finished. How any coats of primer and final coat did you use? Did you use interlux? Looks like a hell of a project and nicely done!

that IS a hell of a story....boat looks good though. what kind of paint did you use? sprayed?
  • Craig

    Thanks for the response!!!
How did you apply the primer and interlux? Which interlux did you use because your boat looks SHARP. You also wet sanded.....what was your process?? Thanks for the help!!!

Snow on melt water on ice is the worst - it cost me my 49 Ford two door convertible that had 34,000 actual miles. It was in Haines Alaska - just reminded me so much of your description. One minute things are great and the next your laying face down in the snow wondering how you could have F%#@* up your baby so completely. Anyway, glad yours was fixable - very nice job.

Perhaps some of that fish "schtank" will give our boats a little more luck out there... come as you are party and hope it rubs off on us!!

Great!! No obstacles - pretty straightforward float & we'll be following 4 or 5 guides with clients, so they'll be picking safe, dry, lines...
Look forward to meeting you and your boat.
