RE> good luck with server trouble

    Thanks Dave:

I think my host provider is dead in the water.
They don't answer email and they don't answer the phone.
I bought a new server at godaddy.
Take me a day or two to move it.

...need some jolt cola and copenhagen to get this done.

    Dave,
I am planning on a bright finish right now... oil interior.
The main rivers I would be floating will probably be the Pere Marquette, Ausable, and possible the Big Man, Muskegon, etc. I have not spent much time on most of them (the Pere Marquette is the most frequent) but I am hoping the boat will allow me to get out more and explore more water.

I was liking the idea of a wider, low side boat that we can fish one from the from and back at the same time. Hopefully a little less reactive to the wind, and large enough for some decent trips with a couple guys and gear.

Thanks for your response, most helpful. By the way, I was thinking the DE designation after your boat(s) listings stood for double-ender, but I see in your blog you have a transom. What's the DE.

    Thanks again jb

Yea I'm with you on the double-enders, fairest lines of all. Can't haul as much, but as Ray Wylie Hubbard says... some things under heaven, are just cooler than hell.

I just ordered a foot stomper from Sandy. How do you like yours?

Hey - Happy Trout... Great "post" - boat progress is coming right along!! Wish you were able to make it out here for the wooden boat weekend... it's right up your alley - you'd have a great time!!
    Keep up the good work...

Evidence to the contrary... your priorities are just right!! Rain-check on Oregon... "literally". One of these days we'll float a river - here or there...

Dave, this is Rick Newman from Spokane. We have never spoken, but I have folowed your boats progress both on here and at Happy Trout Chronicles. Neat boat and great job as a father sharing your activities with your kids! I admire your accomplishments.

I know that you follow events here quite closely and wanted to see more pictures of the Wooden Boat Festival. I took quite a few and have three files of pictures that I sent to both Randy and Greg Hatten. The total file size is 356 Mb so it overwhelms most mailing methods. I use a service called Pando that is free and works relatively well. If you would like me to send you the pictures I would be happy to.

I have pictures from the Boat Parade, pictures of the overall boats and where appropriate pictures of boat construction details. Lastly I had pictures of "Boat People" and the overall event.

Anyway if you are interested let me know an email address and I wil send them.

    Tight Lines,

    Rick Newman

Dave nice work on your boats, you are quite skilled. I had a question for you, I found about a 10 inch plane and a old old block plane in my basement. Will the 10 inch plane work to make my scarf joints for my side and bottom panels(56")? Or do i need to buy a 22 inch plane? If I use my 10 inch plane , it was my Great Grandfathers and hasn't been sharpener/used since he used them . I have very limited knowledge or experience with planes. I remember you mentioning there was an art to sharpening planes? Any Help is appreciated. I love the barbies in the model you built. I have two daughters myself , who are 9 and 11 years old. They will get a kick out of those pictures for sure!
