Thanks very much, Greg. I'll give it a go with clamps. Yeah, my son and are are very eager to get the boat in the water, but I don't want to rush the finishing touches. Take care. Dan

Hey Dan,
I know what you mean... I had those concerns too - but I didn't steam them. I clamped them and held my breath... the yellow cedar was pliable enough that they conformed to the curve, no problem. Unless you are using a hard wood for those, you should be alright.
You must be getting pretty close to "launch", eh??

Hey Greg, I am about to install my fly deck. How did you get the fly line deck cleats to conform to the sides of the boat? I think that if I force them into position with clamps they will break. Did you steam them? I would be grateful for your advice about this. Thanks.

Yeah it looks cool - compliments the horns well.

I got a new "router" for the project and I was just "horsing" around with it... I cut those three channels in the stem with a quarter inch router bit, then cut 1/4" strips of Alaskan Yellow Cedar, threaded them down the channels and secured them with epoxy and used a soft hammer to pound them in flush.... sanded and varnished (that was all done before final assembly).

How did you get the three strips in the stem like that? It looks neat and matches the horns...
