Yeah, that was a fun fish. About 40 minutes before we hooked that one up, my buddy Rick there in the pic hooked one up on a hole on the anchor which proceeded to rip him up until he neared the end of the spool and he thumbed down and (well, you know the story) POP! broke him clean off. I had no idea he was getting freight-trained like that, because he didn't set his reel drag on the "click" setting, you know the one that makes noise when line is being peeled, so I was more concerned with reeling up my gear and getting our other buddy to do the same, when I should have been yanking the anchor and rowing down after that fish to give chase for all I was worth. It was long gone, well clear of our gear! I always try to get my passengers to set the click so I can hear what's happening. Well, I was pretty down, because this was clearly a big, hot fish we'd just lost, but Rick is ever the optimist and was just having fun and was glad to have fought that fish for a minute or so. He was sure he'd get another. 40 minutes later, he picked that one up in the pic on the side-drift, which is a cool way to hook up. That buck took us upstream, downstream, cross-stream, every kind of stream until we finally subdued him!
