It moves pretty fast - the tail end near smithfield can mean some rowing if there is a headwind, but usually just a slow drift while you toss poppers. At last weekend's cfs, it made the trip almost too short.
We camp all over the river at any one of the 90 or so sites in the Nat. Recreation area - that day we camped at the top of fiddler's elbow (walpac bend), near the bushkill. Just depends on what section you float - there are some nice 3-day trips you can do. It's good this time of year and in the fall when the bass are active and the knuckleheads are at a minimum.
Sounds like a great trip. I will add it to my list. Is it alot of rowing or is the water moving along fast enough? Are you camping at the Rivers Bend Campsites?
Ron, We were floating 2 days in the del. water gap (eschbak to smithfield) last weekend. Shad were thick throughout & super fresh and feisty. I believe that one was caught just below the Bushkill access. J.G.
