It you're worried about a extra protection just go traditional and run a 1/4 wooden skid shoe oil it both sides then put it on that's what I will put on when this stuff wheres out and I have on my other boats

Without. And I shallow small-med rivers pushing 700-1500cfs to big water systems that run 6000-14000 and hit brush and skid rocks and it has worked great. No cloth

Coat-it it has worked good so far I think for that 14'-6" boat I used 8lbs with no left overs
